Of course even the mention of the words John Key and Equiticorp in the same sentence are damaging, which is why the Serious Fraud Office went to the lengths last year of issuing a statement describing Key as “an innocent witness” in the whole process, adding that any politician who sought to gain from making insinuations that the National leader was somehow involved in the whole affair would be “malicious”.
